Nevada Needs Solutions Not Talking Points From Puppet Candidates.

Friends and Supporters,

I'd like to make you aware of an astonishing example of the lemming mentality my opponent's candidate factory is feeding voters. Take a look at the attached campaign mailers from my opponent Randy Kirner and Assembly 25 candidate Pat Hickey. Look familiar? They didn't even bother to change the layout. This is one of the most egregious examples of one-size-fits-all, cookie cutter campaign messaging I have ever seen. It is a blatant case of a candidate with NO NEW IDEAS and NO NEW SOULTUTIONS parroting political talking points as solutions to tough problems facing our state. CLICK HERE to see the mailers.

What's more, it is based on research I presented 5 months ago in Nevada News and Views. In the article I wrote the following about my tough stand on illegal immigration:

"How would you address concerns in regards to Nevada's illegal immigrant population?

We cannot tolerate illegal entry into the U.S. and into Nevada.

A Pew Hispanic Center research study (released April 2009) found that Nevada topped the nation in the percentage of illegal immigrant workers. The group estimated that there were about 170,000 illegal immigrant workers in the state or approximately 12.2 percent of its workforce (more than twice the national average of 5.4 percent)!

We need to enforce existing federal laws that penalize the employer for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants, but we also need to help employers find the information that they need to determine if a person is a legal resident.

In a poll conducted of 501 Nevadans by Zogby (January 2009), 83 percent of Nevadans stated that they thought Congress needed to reauthorize the E-Verify program to help employers check the status of a prospective employee. " CLICK HERE for the story.

As a voter, I'm insulted. As a candidate, I'm extremely disappointed, since such actions only contribute to the negative perception the public has of politicians. If this is the type of political assembly line solutions we get from our elected officials, how do we solve the tough problems facing this state?

With your support, I will bring a new approach to Carson City - one that demands honesty about our problems, and a willingness to make the hard decisions that can lead to a better future for all Nevadans.
